Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) – Crews from the Rochester Fire Department responded to a call with smoke filling the Truckin’ America auto store from an unknown source Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from the Rochester Fire Department, crews first arrived at Truckin America just before 9:30 a.m. and saw heavy smoke inside the building, with light smoke also coming from the roof. Truckin America was open and operational, and all employees and customers were said to have evacuated safely.

The Rochester Fire Department reports the flames were in an office on the north side of the building. The office door had to be forced open by firefighters. Once inside, the fire was extinguished.

Crews said the fire was limited to the contents of the room and did not reach the structure itself. Reports said there was fire and water damage in one room, smoke damage throughout.

The Fire Marshal’s Division is investigating the cause.

The fire department noted that the spread of the fire was limited by the fact that both office doors were closed. Officials said if you were to encounter a fire in a structure, closing doors behind you as you evacuate can help stop the fire from spreading.
