I know I can be half a bok fly
Manie Libbok is crossing his fingers that the Stormers will bring him a first Springbok call-up.
Libbok, who is the Vodacom United Rugby Championship’s leading points scorer, was speaking to the Sunday newspaper Report in a wide-ranging interview which also touched on his Bok ambitions.
Since coming onto the scene with the Junior Springboks, Libbok’s career has had its ups and downs, and the former Sharks and Vodacom Bulls fly-half joined the Stormers in 2021 as the Capetonians looked to build their depth at No. 10.
Backed as a first-choice pivot by coach John Dobson this season, the 24-year-old has gained confidence as he leads the Stormers’ march to the URC playoffs.
His outstanding performances were more notable given the lack of legitimate challengers for incumbent Bok Handre Pollard in 2022.

“At the moment, I am doing well on the pitch. I have a coach who gives me the opportunity to play a few games in a row in the opening position,” Libbok said. Report.
“I always know I can compete at fly-half for the Springbok shirt. I will patiently wait for my chance.
“At the moment, my focus is on the URC knockout games and my Stormers team.
“I focus on the current. In other words, give the best for my union. I think you have to do everything step by step.
“Of course I’ve dreamed of playing for the Boks since I was a kid. I still have. But like I said, if I keep working hard and being consistent, I hope the opportunity will naturally arise to play for the Boks.
