Fuso Canter commemorates a milestone

Fuso celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Australian introduction of the iconic Fuso Canter with a special edition model.

The 50th Anniversary Canter is based on a 515, Australia’s best-selling model, and 150 units are now available at Fuso dealers across the country.

These are Built Ready alloy tray models and feature special factory silver paint, 50th Anniversary Edition badge, and custom seat covers.

Fuso is also running a competition to celebrate this milestone.

Three 50th Anniversary Canters customers, who buy their vehicles before December 31, 2021, will regain the value of their trucks.

The Canter’s standard specification in 2021 is a far cry from the original truck, which was quite devoid of the “continuous ventilation” and “all-around safety glass” that were promoted in advertisements at the time.

These days, the Canter 515 comes standard with a radar-based Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), lane departure warning system, a 7-inch high-resolution touchscreen, and a driver’s airbag. .

While the original truck was manual only, the new Canter is also available with an optional quick-change fully automated dual-clutch transmission.

Fuso has sold over 73,000 Canters since the model was introduced in Australia after proving its worth on the rugged tracks of Papua New Guinea.

Canter is available in a range of configurations ranging from a 3.5 ton license car model to an 8.5 ton version, as well as urban cabins, wide cabins, multi-seat cabins, dump bodies, flatbed trucks and pantechs as well as a robust 4 × 4 unit.

This year, Fuso opened a new chapter in Canter’s history by introducing the first fully electric OEM truck in Australia; eCanter.
